Iva T. Horner, 89, of Salisbury, died Thursday, January 14, 2010 at her home. She was born on May 5, 1920 in Snow Hill, a daughter of the late Lafayette and Mary Hudson Townsend. Iva was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Salisbury. She worked for many years as a secretary in the loan department at the Wilmington Trust Company in Georgetown, Delaware. She loved spending special time with her friends eating out, or just having coffee and chatting. As she grew up in Snow Hill, she looked forward to taking rides to Snow Hill. In her later years her biggest joy came from her beloved Toy Poodle, "Angel". In addition to "Angel", she is survived by several cousins, Walter "Bud" Hudson and his wife, Henrietta Jane of Salisbury, Samuel Hudson of Salisbury, Ruth Harbin of Ellicott City, MD and Viola and Bud Good of Florida; caring friends, Philip and Susan Johnson of Salisbury and Pastor Art and Carol Gronbach of Salisbury; and other family members, Charles Horner and his wife, Ann of Salisbury and Marlene Horner of Virginia Beach, VA. She is also survived by her devoted caregivers and her special friends from Bethany Lutheran Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar "Punk" J. Horner, who passed in 1985. A funeral service will be held on Monday, January 18, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Bethany Lutheran Church in Salisbury. The Reverend Kevin Wackett will officiate. Interment will follow at Whatcoat Methodist Cemetery in Snow Hill. Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to Coastal Hospice, P.O. Box 1733, Salisbury, MD 21802.
