Irene Miller Goswellin of Pittsville, formerly of Snow Hill, died Tuesday, May 5, 2009 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury. She was born December 31, 1922 in Swords Creek, VA, a daughter of the late Rufus and Lydia Miller. Irene worked at the Watson Shirt Factory for many years until their closing and then for Gant Shirt Factory, retiring in 1988. Irene is survived by daughters, Janice M. Merrill of Pittsville, with whom she lived and Gloria Rodney of Snow Hill; a son, Randall W. Mullins and his wife, Cheryl of Snow Hill; eight grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; brothers, Rual Miller and his wife Shellby of Swords Creek, VA, Thurman Miller and his wife Pudge of Ohio and Murphy Miller and his wife Gwen of Pittsville; and a sister, Lovera Perkins of Easley, SC. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Warren Mullins, an infant daughter, Patricia, her second husband, Austin (Gus) Goswellin and sisters Kathleen Scott and Dorothy Black. A funeral service will be held on Monday, May 11, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. at Short Funeral Home, 13 E. Grove Street, Delmar, where family and friends may call from 12:00 to 1:00.
