Obituary

DELMAR – Ida M. Taylor, 96, of Delmar died Saturday, September 5, 2009 at Wicomico Nursing Home. Born near Delmar she was a daughter of the late Isaac Hearn and Cornelia Wilkins Hearn. She was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother and friend. In 1991, friends and family rejoiced when she was baptized by Elder Cleo Robertson of Cary, NC. She was a member of Forest Grove-Salisbury Old School Baptist Church and the friendships, fellowship and trips to North Carolina OSBC homes and churches shared over the years were highlights in her life. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Jean and Bill Leonard of Delmar; grandchildren, Teresa L. King and companion, Dick Baker, Salisbury, Gary W. Leonard and wife, Dawn, Bridgeville, DE, Susan J. Comba and companion, Vic Disharoon, Eden, and John E. Leonard and companion, Kathy Twilley, Delmar; great grandchildren, Nichole M. Comba, Cockeysville, MD, Taylor W. Leonard and wife, Jennifer, Millsboro, DE, Krista Haley Leonard, Bridgeville, DE, Megan M. Leonard, Danvers, MA, Jennifer L. King, ; one great-great grandchild, Shawn M. Bennett, Salisbury; a special nephew, Byard E. McNelia and wife, Nona, Salisbury; a niece, Nancy King, Seaford; and several other nephews. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of almost fifty years, Walter W. Taylor, who passed in 1978; two sisters, Pearl E. McNelia and Julia M. Ada; and three half sisters, Bessie Mitchell, Helen Haddaway Bramble and Mary Wilkins. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at Short Funeral Home, 13 E. Grove Street, Delmar, with a visitation one hour prior. Elder Elbert Robbins will officiate. Interment will follow at St. Stephen's Cemetery in Delmar. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her memory to Forest Grove-Salisbury Old School Baptist Church, c/o Marietta Robbins, P.O.
