Obituary

Howard "Howie" Ellis Dunn, 74, of Parsonsburg, devoted husband, passed away at his home on Saturday, September 16, 2023. Howie was born February 2, 1949, in Washington, DC, a son of the late Raymond and Gwendolyn (Baltch) Dunn. He graduated from Northwestern Sr. High school with the class of '66 before attending S.E. Oklahoma State University and Prince George's Community College. He was raised in Hyattsville, Maryland where he lived for over 56 years. In 2005, he moved to Harford County where he lived in the Joppa and Edgewood area. He married Charmaine Nelson on July 26, 2008, and together they moved to Parsonsburg in 2016. He proudly served his country in the US Air Force and worked as a communications center specialist at the Pentagon in Arlington, VA. In 1975 he retired from the Air Force but continued to volunteer at the Department of Veterans Affairs for 25 years. He was a life member of the DAV, American Legion, the Sons of the American Revolution, and Tau Kappa Epsilon. Howie was an avid reader and a huge sports fan rooting for the Orioles, Ravens, Redskins, and U of MD Terps. He also loved watching boxing, playing golf, and walking his dogs. He will be remembered for his love for family and his quick-witted sense of humor. He is survived by his wife, Charmaine "Cheri" M. Dunn; a brother, David Martin Dunn; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. A graveside service with military honors will be held on Thursday, September 21, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at Mountain Christian Church Cemetery, 1824 Mountain Road, Joppa, MD 21805.
