Obituary

SALISBURY- Hildreth Carolyn Stallings, 85, of Salisbury, died Tuesday, July 2, 2013 at Wicomico Nursing Home in Salisbury. She was born March 11, 1928 in Baltimore, a daughter of the late Robert Martin and Flora Gaskin Keller. Carolyn worked in sales at BG&E and for various women's clothing shops for many years. She was an active member of Makemie Presbyterian Church in Snow Hill. She was a member of the Maryland Institute of Art and Inner Wheel, a women's group of Rotary, where she served as President and District President for a number of years. She was a much accomplished artist, specializing in rug-hooking, fabrics and wood-spinning. She was a true people person and a wonderful friend to many and an avid dog lover. She is survived by her beloved husband of over 41 years, Allen D. Stallings; a son, Jeffrey Gilmore Davis (Nancy) of Olney, Maryland; a son-in-law, Dennis Quigley of Venice, Florida; 5 grandchildren, Jason Quigley (Tina), April Pinder (Sydney), Yancy Quigley, Aaron Scott Davis and Jaimie Davis; and 8 great grandchildren, Gabrielle, Malakia, Caleb, Bailey, Sidney, Makenna, Payton and Madelyn. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her daughter Cathy Ellen Quigley; and first husband, Melvin Davis, who died in combat in Vietnam in 1967. A memorial service will be held on Monday, July 8, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Makemie Memorial Presbyterian Church in Snow Hill where family and friends may call from 10:00 to 11:00. The Reverend Debra Latture will officiate. Interment will follow in the Makemie Church Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to Makemie Memorial Presbyterian Church, 115 Franklin Street, Snow Hill, MD 21863. Arrangements are in the care of Short Funeral Home, Delmar.
