Obituary

Helen Farley Sullivan of Delmar, Delaware passed peacefully at home on Saturday, February 5, 2022, a few months after celebrating her 100th birthday. She was born on November 8, 1921, in Hebron, Maryland, a daughter of the late Wilson and Lottie (Cooper) Farley. After raising her children, at nearly 40 years of age, Helen decided to renew her cosmetology credentials (earned during high school). She had a popular beauty shop for many years at her home on Delaware Avenue. She loved to dance and tell stories of how Peanut was the only one that could "keep time" with her- that's how he won her over. She was a Sunday School teacher and circle leader in the Methodist church, president of the Ladies' Democratic Club, and continued working until her last client passed away (Helen was nearly 80 by then). She spent countless hours reading murder/mystery books and could tell you the plot of every book she ever read. She was a master of crocheting blankets, booties, hats, and scarves that have been gifted all over the country to friends, family, and children-in-need. Our closest friends regard her toboggans to be our "family uniform." Her love and warmth will be felt for years to come by all those that received and appreciated her craftmanship. She is survived by her children Rebecca Parsons, Tim Sullivan, and Luanne Sullivan; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Clifton "Peanut" Sullivan; an infant daughter, Dolly Anne Sullivan; and a daughter, Linda Campbell. Services will be private. Arrangements are in the care of Short Funeral Home in Delmar. Online condolences may be sent to the family by visiting www.shortfh.com.
