Helen Gail Kirk, 84, of Delmar passed away on Thursday, October 23, 2008 at Delmar Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born on November 12, 1923 in Elkins, West Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Aaron Teter and Florence Kerns Teter. Mrs. Kirk graduated from Buckingham High School, Class of 1940, in Berlin, Maryland. Along with being a homemaker, she tended breeder hens with Perdue Farms. She loved to read, do crossword puzzles, and listen to country music. She is survived by her daughter, Hope Kirk-Thornton and her husband Daniel of Delmar; a son, John A. Kirk and his wife Angie of North Carolina; several grandchildren, nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth William Kirk, and two sons, Alan Ray Kirk and Kenneth Wayne Kirk. A memorial service for family and friends will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at the Short Funeral Home, 13 East Grove Street in Delmar. The Reverend Wayne Mathis will officiate. A private interment will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Berlin, Maryland at a later date. In memory of Mrs. Kirk, contributions may be sent to the American Cancer Society, P.O.
