Helen W. Calloway, 91, of Salisbury, and formerly of Delmar, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, August 29, 2012. She was born August 24, 1921 in Millsboro, a daughter of the late Harry R. Ward and Lulu Elliott Beach. Helen proudly owned and operated Helen's Beauty Shop in Delmar for over 25 years. She was a long time, active member of First Baptist Church of Delmar, where she sang in the choir and was a Sunday school teacher. She devoted her life to her church and her family. Helen kept an immaculate home and loved working in her yard. She was an avid pet lover and had a special bond with her dog "Lady." In her younger days she was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Delmar. She is survived by a sister, Florence McGee and her husband, Ralph of Delmar; 3 nephews, David Lee Jones and his wife, Sharon, of Laurel, Stephen A. Jones and his wife, Sue Ann of Chesterfield, VA and Robert L. Jones and his companion, David of Raleigh, NC; and 13 great nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Marion H. Calloway, Jr; and a sister, Dorothy F. Lord. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 1, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Short Funeral Home in Delmar, where family and friends may call from 10:00 to 11:00. The Reverend Ruth Chamberlain will officiate. Interment will follow the services at St. Stephen's Cemetery in Delmar.
