Obituary

SNOW HILL- Hazel Disharoon Wilkerson, 89, of Snow Hill, went home to be with her Lord on Sunday, December 2, 2012 at Snow Hill Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. She was born on November 25, 1923 in Snow Hill, a daughter of the late Marion and Doris (Gray) Disharoon. Hazel was a dedicated lifetime member of Bates Memorial United Methodist Church in Snow Hill. She worked at the telephone company, Eastern Shore Gas Company, Central Implement and was a secretary at Snow Hill Elementary School for 26 years. She lived her life helping others and through her job she often learned of the needs of children and their families and always made sure those needs were quietly met. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. She instilled the gift of laughter into her children and grandchildren. She is survived by 3 daughters, Marian Lowe (Ron), Susan Matthews and Jackie Brown (Bruce), all of Snow Hill; 6 grandchildren, Ronnie Lowe (Amanda), Brian Lowe (Sarah) and Erin Matthews, all of Salisbury and Allyson Brown, Katie Brown and Rhylee Brown, all of Snow Hill; 3 great grandchildren, Brianna, Caiden and Tanner Lowe, all of Salisbury; 2 sisters, Irma Lee Henshall of Salisbury and Thelma Bloxom (Orman) of Snow Hill; a sister-in-law, Sara Wilkerson of Snow Hill; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Randolph "Ranny" Wilkerson, who passed in 1994; an infant son, Francis F. Wilkerson; and sisters, Lillian Disharoon and Gladys Townsend. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, December 5, 2012 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Bates Memorial United Methodist Church in Snow Hill, and also on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Funeral services will be held at the church Thursday at 11:00 a.m. The Reverends Tina Whaley and Bill Wilson will officiate. Interment will follow the services at Bates Memorial Cemetery in Snow Hill. Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to Bates UMC Memorial Fund, c/o Debra Hambrick, 402 S.
