PARSONSBURG- Harvey Allen Massey, 71, of Parsonsburg, died Friday, June 3, 2016 at his home in Parsonsburg, surrounded by his loving family. He was born December 28, 1944 in Seaford, the son of the late Norris Elwood Massey and Mary Elizabeth Robinson Massey. Harvey worked several years as a store manager for Drug Fair before opening Massey's Village Inn in Parsonsburg, He owned and operated The Inn for over 20 years, then went to work as a zone manager for Walmart in Salisbury, from where he retired in 2014. He was an avid NASCAR fan and especially like rooting for Date Earnhardt, Sr. and Jr. He enjoyed BBQ's and hanging out with family and friends from the Village Inn. He also loved to fish and trips to the Harrington slots. He will be remembered as a family man who forged special bonds with each of his daughters and grandchildren. He is survived by daughters, Sherry Cook and husband, Mike, Sandra Hill, Heather Smith and husband, Marcus; grandchildren, Kevin Massey Cook, Bryan Cook, John Hill, Danielle Hill, Camden, Skyler and Zoey Smith; great grandchildren, Brandi, Brantley, Gavin, Kenady and Cayson; a special sister-in-law, Sue Bunting and a special niece, Patricia Wilson. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and a host of friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of almost 50 years, Carole Jeanette Massey; a daughter, Kimberly Massey; and sisters, Caroline Wickham, Jean Good and Irma Massey. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Saturday, June 11, 2016 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Short Funeral Home in Delmar, followed by a memorial service which begins at 11:00.
