Obituary

Harvey "Art" Salisbury, age 64, of Salisbury, passed Thursday, December 28, 2006 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury. He was born March 28, 1942 in Newville, PA, a son of the late Lloyd R. and Edna Piper Salisbury. Art proudly served his country in the US Air Force during the Vietnam Era, and retired from the Air Force Reserves in 2002 after over 26 years of service. He also worked for Dresser-Wayne Industries from 1967 until the time of the closure in 2002. He was a long time member of the Salisbury Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge #654. He loved playing softball and bowling in various leagues at the Cherokee Bowling Alley and the Wicomico Bowling Alley. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Carolyn Mae Salisbury; 4 children, Harvey L. Salisbury, Jr. and his wife Tammy of Hebron, MD, James Anthony Salisbury of Newville, PA, Cinda Lynn Prettyman and her husband Joseph of Delmar, DE and Russell Thomas Salisbury of Littlestown, PA; 6 grandchildren, Amber Prettyman, Cassie Salisbury, Ryan Salisbury, Brooke Salisbury, Brad Prettyman and Lacy Mae Salisbury; 3 brothers, William (Bill) Salisbury, Clyde Salisbury and Albert (Red) Salisbury, all of Pennsylvania; and a sister, Florence Salisbury of Pennsylvania. Several nieces and nephews also survive him. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his foster parents, J.R. and Hazel Crum. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, January 3, 2007 from 11:00 to 12:00 at Short Funeral Home, 13 E. Grove Street, Delmar, DE, followed by a graveside service with military honors at 1:00 p.m. at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery of the Eastern Shore in Hurlock, MD. The Reverend Sam McWilliams will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his memory to: American Red Cross of the Delmarva Peninsula, P.O. Box 767, Wilmington, DE 19899.
