Gregory Mark Hill, 66, of Laurel, passed away on Sunday, December 26, 2021, at Tidal Health Peninsula Regional in Salisbury, Maryland. Greg was born on March 21, 1955, in Baltimore, Maryland, a son of James Joseph Hill of Bowie and the late Gertrude Lucille Hill. Greg grew up in Baltimore and began taking care of himself at an early age. His sense of adventure led him to join the U.S. Merchant Marines, where he spent time in Japan, Korea, and Saipan. Early in his career, he was inspired to become a paramedic while living in West Virginia. He also spent time out west and in Alaska as a wildland firefighter and ski patrol medic. Greg later furthered his education to become a registered nurse. Which led him to Alaska to live and work full time. He loved the outdoors and could be found fishing, hunting, camping, or kayaking. During his time in Alaska, he met his wife, Rachelle as she was working as a traveling nurse. He absolutely adored Rachelle, and they were married in 2003. After many adventures together in Alaska, they moved to Delaware seven years ago to be closer to family. Greg was always inspired to learn new things and always enjoyed meeting new people. His friends recall that he always had a great story to tell. He is survived by his loving wife, Rachelle Hill; his extended family located throughout the United States; his wife's extended family from Pennsylvania; his friends in West Virginia, Alaska, and beyond; and his Chesapeake Bay Retriever, Abby. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his sister, Teri Hill Wimberley. A celebration of life will be held in the late spring. In memory of Greg, contributions may be sent to the Brandywine Valley SPCA, Shelter and Animal Health Center, 22918 Dupont Blvd, Georgetown, DE 19947 or to the Food Bank of Delaware, 222 Lake Drive, Newark, DE 19702.
