Grace Leona Moore Adkins, 88, a resident of Pine Bluff Village in Salisbury, and formerly of Delmar, died Sunday, February 26, 2012 at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury. She was born July 6, 1923 in Delmar, a daughter of the late Voghle and Pearl Williams Moore. Leona, as she was fondly known by family and friends, was proud of her Delmar heritage and graduated from Delmar High School with the class of 1941. She was a long time, active member of St. Stephen's United Methodist Church in Delmar. In her later years she moved to Pine Bluff Village where she enjoyed participating in the daily activities and functions. She is survived by a son, Edward A. Adkins of Delmar. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Lynch Adkins, who passed in 1988; and a daughter who passed as an infant, Dolores. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, March 1, 2012 from 7:00 to 8:30 at Short Funeral Home in Delmar, where a funeral service will be held on Friday at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow the services at St. Stephen's Cemetery Park in Delmar.
