Gladys M. Snyder, 81, of Delmar, currently residing in Salisbury Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, died Friday, October 2, 2009 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury. She was born in Salisbury, a daughter of the late William Henry Downes and Alice Mae Driscoll Downes. Gladys worked for many years in the grocery business as a bookkeeper for the T.L. Ruark & Co. She enjoyed being a member of the Happy Timers in Salisbury and enjoyed playing bingo. She is survived by two daughters, Ruth M. Tubbs and her husband, Charles "Buck" Tubbs of Eden and Mary Ellen Compton and her husband, Donald of Brentwood, MD; and a granddaughter, Donna Compton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Howard R. Snyder, who passed in 1993; a grandson, Chuck Tubbs; a brother, Lloyd Downes; and two sisters, Margie Adkins and Wilsie D. Parker. A graveside funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 7, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at Springhill Memory Gardens in Hebron. The Reverend Howard Travers will officiate.
