Gladys M. Dunn, 88, of Hebron, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 23, 2022, after a few days stay at the Alice B. Tawes Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Crisfield. She was born February 27, 1934, in Laurel, Delaware, a daughter of the late William T. Legates and Mary K. (Messick) Legates. She was a wonderful wife, mother and homemaker and took her job of raising 6 children very seriously. Gladys loved listening to Hank Williams, Sr. music, gardening, and trips to flea markets. She will be remembered as a wonderful cook who loved preparing family dinners and holidays. She also enjoyed her Sunny Meadows friends and neighbors and appreciated them for looking out for her as she got older. She is survived by a son, James I. (Betty) Dunn of Mardela Springs; daughters, Linda (John) Parks of Hebron and Shirley Foskey of Versailles, Kentucky; 8 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and a brother, John Legates of Salisbury. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ross Henry Dunn, who passed in 1994; sons, Craig Dunn and Henry Dunn; a daughter, Karen L. Dunn; a sister, Katherine Peek; and brothers, Bill, Arthur, Charles and James Legates. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday, October 31, 2022, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 at Short Funeral Home, 13 E. Grove Street, Delmar, Delaware 19940, followed by a funeral service which will begin at 12:00. The Reverend David Bennett will officiate. Interment will follow at Springhill Memory Gardens in Hebron.
