Obituary

George C. Jefferson, 69, of Hebron, passed away Monday, January 23, 2023, sadly a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident. George was born October 25, 1953 in Wilmington, Delaware, a son of Ronald Lee Jefferson, Sr. and the late Juanita Jane (Glenn) Jefferson. George had several rewarding careers and will be remembered for his attention to detail and strong work ethic. In his earlier days he worked as a blacksmith in New Jersey, a horse groomer in Harrington and then worked on the road crew for several years for ASPLUNDH Tree Service. For over 10 years George worked as a dock foreman for Townsend Poultry Co. He was a past member of the Elliott's Island Volunteer Fire Department and Elliott's Island United Methodist Church. He was an avid outdoorsman, and especially loved fishing, crabbing and working in his vegetable garden, growing tomatoes, squash, zucchini and strawberries. He was a loyal and faithful fan of the Washington Redskins and the Baltimore Orioles. He could fix or build almost anything and was a skilled woodworker. George has left his family with many fond memories of his wonderful cooking skills and they will especially miss his Arizona beef stew and his brownies, and his love for classic country music and old westerns. He was survived by his beloved wife, Joyce Lee (Hickman) Jefferson; children, Laralyn (Coleman), Richie (Shelli), Tina (Lee), Michelle (John), and Christopher (Traci); grandchildren, Alexis, Taylor, Michael, Stephanie, Tori, Tre, TJ, Xavier, Thane, Makayla, Cole, Caitlin, Keagan, Nathan and JT; and great grandchildren, Carson, Brinley, Alannah, Michael, Jackson, Leila and J.D.
