SEAFORD- George W. Craft, 86, of Seaford, died Tuesday, October 4, 2011 at his home in Seaford. He was born February 7, 1925 in Hebron, a son of the late Julius and Hilda (Hildman) Craft. George was raised on the family farm in Bridgeville. After high school, he proudly served his country in the US Army during WWII. He was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church in Oak Grove for many years. For over 20 years George worked as a delivery man and ice cream maker for Larrimore Dairy in Seaford until the business closed. He then spent 25 years working for Dave Webb at Mobile Gardens, setting up homes and maintaining the water treatment plant. George will be remembered as a true family man who enjoyed family dinners and get togethers. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing. Bargain hunting at auctions, coin collecting and flowers were also favorite hobbies of George's. He enjoyed refinishing furniture and woodworking projects and used his talents to refinish all of the pews in Bethel United Methodist Church. He is survived by a son, Phil Craft and his wife, Dodi of Seaford; a daughter, Christine C. Waller and her husband, Douglas of Seaford; 5 grandchildren, Brandy Widdowson, Holly Ayres, Megan Hare, Lindsay Whelan and Brittany Roberts; 10 great grandchildren, Tatum, Aully, K-Ci, Cole, Bailey, Madison, Caden, Aaron, Brayton and Dylan; a brother, Donald Craft and his wife, Eileen of Bridgeville; and 2 sisters, Rita Layton of Seaford and Nita Conaway and her husband, Emerson of Bridgeville. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Beatrice "Bea" Prettyman Craft, who passed in 2000, and 2 sisters, Louise Wheedleton and Dorothy Russell. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 8, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at Bethel United Methodist Church in Oak Grove. The Reverend Dr. Everett C. Isaacs and The Reverend Charles Kind will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Vitas Hospice, 802 N. DuPont Highway, Milford, DE 19963.
