Obituary

DELMAR-- Gary M. Horseman, Jr., 59, of Delmar, died Thursday, October 6, 2011 at his home in Delmar. He was born July 25, 1952 in Salisbury, a son of Gary M. Horseman, Sr. and the late Corina Mae (Pervett) Horseman. Gary was raised in Delmar and attended Delmar Jr-Sr High School. He was a member of the New Covenant Fellowship Church in Delmar. He spent many years working with his father and also for himself as a talented carpenter. As an active member of the community, he served many years as secretary for the Delmar Kiwanis Club. His love for people was shown daily as he was always willing to help someone in need. He was never too busy to stop and talk with friends, and sometimes strangers, and his sense of humor will be sorely missed. A true family man, Gary took pride in caring for the needs of his family, especially his wife, Mary Jane and daughter, Angel. He was an avid NASCAR fan, rooting for Dale Earnhardt, Jr. and was a big fan of Dale Earnhardt, Sr. He also loved Sunday's in the fall ; to him that meant Washington Redskins football. He also enjoyed playing on his computer, fishing and gardening. Gary was a seafood lover and he was a wonderful cook who loved to feed family and friends. In addition to his father, he is survived by his beloved wife of almost 18 years, Mary Jane (Foskey) Horseman; a daughter, Angel Marie Horseman of Delmar; 2 sons, Gary M. "Scoot" Horseman, III and his wife, Sondra of Kentucky and Robert S. Horseman of South Carolina; a brother, Steve Horseman and his wife, Theresa of Mardela Springs; 2 sisters, Dora Ellis and her companion, Bill Holt of Salisbury and Beth Mullinix and her husband, Vince of Delmar; and 3 grandchildren, Noah, Nathan and Gabby. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He will also be greatly missed by his faithful dog, "Baby", a toy Chihuahua. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by a sister, Tina Marie Jobes. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, October 12, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. at Short Funeral Home in Delmar. The Reverend Edward Townsend will officiate. To honor his love for children, memorial contributions may be made in his memory to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
