LAUREL- G. Robert Dickerson, 92, of Laurel, died Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at Wicomico Nursing Home in Salisbury. He was born in Laurel, a son of the late Albert and Katie (Cordrey) Dickerson. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Joe Dickerson, and sisters, Lillian Campbell and Pearl Northam. Robert worked most of his life as a farmer and loved being outdoors. Along with planting and harvesting soybeans and corn, Robert also found solace working in his garden and sharing sweet potatoes, butter beans, squash, watermelons and other produce he grew with family and friends. He retired from the DuPont Co. in Seaford after 41 years of service and was a long time member of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church in Laurel. In his free time he could be found searching local flea markets for bargains, watching football games and listening to gospel music. He is survived by Judy Meyers of Delmar, who was like a daughter to him, and her children, Aaron, Craig and Cheryl Meyers; and a special niece, Pam Dunn and her husband, David of Delmar. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, January 26, 2018 from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Short Funeral Home in Delmar, followed by a funeral service which begins at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Laurel. Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church, c/o Shelly Givens, Treasurer, 8947 Woodland Ferry Road, Laurel, DE 19956.
