Frieda Sophie Baynard, age 79, of Salisbury, formerly of Sharptown, died Thursday, August 9, 2007 at Salisbury Rehabilitation & Nursing Center. She was born in Cordova, Maryland, a daughter of the late Carl & Anna Meyer Degen. Mrs. Baynard enjoyed being a homemaker where she spent her time babysitting for friends and family. She especially loved spending time with and babysitting her grandchildren. She was an avid bingo player and an excellent cook. She is survived by 6 children, Wayne Ross Baynard and his wife, Dottie of Dover, Delaware, Patricia Ann Peiffer and her husband, Ralph of Dunn, North Carolina, Carl Franklin Baynard and his wife, Jean of Sharptown, Maryland, Leon Calvin Baynard and his wife, Debbie of Pocomoke, Maryland, Betty Lorraine Matlick and her companion, Eddie Watson of Salisbury and James Medford Baynard and his wife, Christine of Sharptown, Maryland; and 21 beloved grandchildren, Lisa A. Fisher, Kelly E. Goetlebb, Robert R. Baynard, James W. Baynard, Patricia E. Baynard, Melissa Patkovic Adams, Cassey Lankford Wendlandt, Carol Lankford Eskridge, Crystal Bennett, Clayton Bennett, Tracy Baynard Powell, Renee Baynard Taylor, Lee Edwards, Amanda Baynard, Aaron Baynard, Christina Baynard Henry, Dwayne Baynard, Carl Baynard, Jr., Renee Baynard,Cory Baynard and Charlie Robinson. She is also survived by 19 great-grandchildren, a sister, Hannah Hunt of W. Palm Beach, Florida, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clayton Ross Baynard, who passed in 1970, and a brother, Helmuth Degen. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Saturday, August 11, 2007 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church in Sharptown. Funeral services will he held on Sunday, August 12, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at the church. The Reverend Everett Landon will officiate. Interment will follow the services in Fireman's Cemetery in Sharptown.
