Obituary

Franklin James Sockriter, Sr., 74, died Friday, December 25, 2009 at his home in Fruitland, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on May 3, 1935, a son of the late Jerman Sockriter and Delia (Phillips) Sockriter. Founder of Gods New Country Church, he dedicated his time unselfishly Ministering at Genesis Nursing Home. His strong faith for God and family made him even stronger spiritually while battling cancer. Cancer won but we lost, he will be deeply missed. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Norma K. Sockriter; a son, Franklin James Sockriter, Jr.; two grandchildren, Franklin James Sockriter, III and Shannon Sollingberger; four great grandchildren; a brother, Richard Sockriter; four sisters, Mary Lewis, Dorothy Hill, Christine Powell and Shirley Sockriter; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Tommy Sockriter and a sister, Ruth Cannon. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel at Springhill Memory Gardens in Hebron. Mr. Jack Andrews will officiate.
