Obituary

LAUREL- Franklin F. "Punk" Hall, 67, of Laurel, died Thursday, April 3, 2014 at the Fresenius Medical Center in Salisbury during his dialysis. He was born December 20, 1946 in Salisbury, a son of the late Everett and Rintha (Hickman) Hall. "Punk," as he was known to many, graduated from Delmar High with the class of 1965. He proudly served his country in the US Army for two years. After discharge from the Army he worked as a spinning machine operator for the DuPont Company in Seaford for several years. He retired in 2006 after 31 years of service as a feed mill manager for Showell Poultry and Perdue. He was a member of Line United Methodist Church and for many years was responsible for maintaining Line Community Cemetery, a job he was most proud of. In his younger days he was an avid bird hunter and enjoyed quail hunting and running his dogs. His world revolved around standardbred horse racing, a passion of his for many years. For the past few years, after many trips to dialysis, he lived by the notto, "Why me?" He is survived by his wife of 45 ½ years, Joyce Hall; three sons, Brent E. Hall of Delmar, Chad E. Hall and his wife Ginger of Laurel, and Kirk E. Hall and his wife Tammy of Smyrna; four grandchildren, Scott Hall, Macy Hall, Danielle Grant and Cole Elliott; a brother, Roland Hall and his wife Alice of Melsons; a sister, Jane Layfield of Salisbury; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Line United Methodist Church in Delmar, where family and friends may call from 12:00 to 2:00. Interment will follow in Line Community Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Line Community Cemetery, c/o Richard Bowen, 33915 Shockley Road, Parsonsburg, MD 21849, or Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
