DELMAR- Frank J. Bailey, Sr., 88, of Delmar, and most recently a resident of Harrison House in Snow Hill, died peacefully at Peninsula Regional Medical Center on Friday morning, March 20, 2015. He was born December 5, 1926 in Saxis, Virginia, a son of the late Herman T. and Ella Blanche Linton Bailey. A World War II Army veteran, he spent his early years as a waterman before working at the Wallops Navy Base and then many years in garment manufacturing. Frank was a member of Selbyville Elks Lodge #2173, serving multiple terms as Exalted Ruler, District Deputy to the Grand Exalted Ruler and Past State Vice President of the Southeast District. He was also an avid supporter of local dirt track racing. Frank is survived by his wife of 66 years, Katherine Simpson Bailey; three children, Connie Bailey of Parsonsburg, Frank Bailey, Jr. and his wife, Karen of Pittsville and Sandra McGinnis and her fiancé, Richard Komorowski of Delmar; six grandchildren, four of which he and Katherine raised, Herman J. Powell, Jr. of Delmar, Katherine Zack and her husband, Richard, of Laurel, Candace Spencer and her fiancé, Brian Meisenholder of Delmar, Brian Spencer and his wife, Katrina, of Laurel, Jessica Womer and her husband, Ryan, of Pittsville and Jason Bailey of Pittsville; great grandchildren, H. James Powell III, Brittany Parker, Andrea Parker, B. Scott Malone II, Tyler Meisenholder, Madison McPhail, Aubrey Womer, Wyatt Meisenholder and Silas Spencer; and brothers, W. Orville Bailey of Frankford, Lodie L. Bailey of Saxis, Theodore R. Bailey of York, PA and James W. Bailey of Exmore, VA. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Billy Bailey, Teagle Bailey and Herman Bailey, Jr.; and two daughters, Betty Mae Bailey and Barbara Fisher. An Elks service will be held on Thursday, March 26, 2015 at 11:00 a.m., followed by a funeral service, at Short Funeral Home in Delmar, where a visitation for family and friends will be held from 10:00 to 11:00. Interment will be held at Parksley Cemetery in Parksley, Virginia.
