OMAHA, NEBRASKA- Frances Owens Kerman, 98, of Omaha, formerly of Sharptown, died Tuesday, January 15, 2013 in Omaha. She was born March 3, 1914 in Sharptown, a daughter of the late Samuel W. Owens and Bertie Jones Owens. In her younger days she worked as a registered nurse until she retired to stay home to raise her family. She was a long time, very active member of Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church in Sharptown. She is survived by 2 daughters, Deborah Kirwan (Kent) of Omaha and Ellen Tracey (Dennis) of Lancaster, Virginia; 3 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; a nephew, George Owens (Jan) of Seaford; and a sister-in-law, Doris Owens, also of Seaford. In addition to her parents, her brother, Avery Owens, preceded her in death. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church, 300 Church Street, in Sharptown, where family and friends may call from 10:00 to 11:00. Interment will follow the services at Firemen's Cemetery in Sharptown.
