Evelyn Duerre (Lang) Vogel, 85, of Delmar, DE, passed away on November 27, 2023, at TidalHealth-Nanticoke in Seaford. She was born in Canarsie, Brooklyn, NY on March 15, 1938, a daughter of the late Henry and Evelyn Louise (Duerre) Lang and graduated from Prospect Heights High School. Throughout her lifetime, Evelyn held a variety of interesting jobs. A few of her favorites were serving as the director of a Montessori Pre-School, coordinating summer programs for the Sharon Creative Arts Foundation, and working as an assistant to her husband in the architectural model making business. She was a wonderful caregiver who unselfishly cared for her parents as they were aging. Wherever she lived, she was sure to belong to a faith-filled, warm and welcoming church, such as the First Church of Christ Congregational Sharon in Connecticut, where she sang in the choir for many years. Evelyn attended Mt. Vernon and Asbury Churches in Sharptown, MD where she was a spiritual mother to many. She was active in bible studies where her biblical insight was welcomed. She believed in the power of prayer and did not hesitate to pray for someone in need. She and her late partner, Timothy S. Bounds, shared the gift of hospitality, welcoming many to their home for coffee and encouragement. In addition to her church family, she is survived by a daughter, Valerie Brey and husband, Warren; grandchildren, Elise Bryant, Cassandra Brey and Aaron Brey; a sister, Barbara Vogel and husband, Craig; a nephew, Matthew Vogel; and a niece, Julia Jordan. She was a loving and generous family member to all. Services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to be made in Evelyn's name to Mt. Vernon Church, P.O.
