Obituary

Eugene Douglas Walters, 54, went to be with our heavenly father, with whom he spoke with day and night while he was here on this earth, on Saturday, June 27, 2009 at Delaware Hospice Center in Milford, Delaware. He was born on February 9, 1955 in Kings Lynn England, the first son of Richard L. Walters and Shirley D. Walters. To know Euke was to love him. A big fellow, with an even bigger heart, especially towards his family and animals and last but not least to his favorite band, The Beatles. He was genuinely moved by music. He loved to go on hikes to reflect on his life and observe nature. He truly will be missed by family and friends. In addition to his parents, he leaves behind a loving son, Damian L. Walters; brothers, Richard and Anthony Walters; a sister, Ann Marie Walters; as well as his brother (from a different mother) Scott M. Hopkins. Loved by his sister in law, Rhonda, and his nephews, Donovan and Derek Walters. He graduated from Delmar High School in 1973. He was a proud Navy veteran serving aboard the USS John F. Kennedy, (his favorite president). His hobbies included playing bass guitar, music, hiking, hand feeding wild squirrels, rebuilding his '73 Volkswagon, and always looking out for others that were less fortunate. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. at the Short Funeral Home, 13 East Grove Street in Delmar. In memory of Mr. Walters, contributions may be sent to the Humane Society of Wicomico County, 5130 Citation Drive, Salisbury, MD 21804 or to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 11454, Alexandria, VA 22312. Online condolences may be sent to the family by visiting www.shortfh.com.
