It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ernest Maurice "Morris" Jones Sr., of Delmar, who left us on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at the age of 76. Born on January 10, 1949, in Salisbury, Maryland, he was a son of the late Ernest Jones and Sadie Harmon Shockley. A dedicated plumber by trade, Morris worked for Salisbury University and was well-respected in his field. He was a proud father to his beloved son, Ernest "Tookie" Jones Jr., with whom he shared many outdoor adventures. The pair enjoyed hunting, fishing, and trapping muskrats, often turning their catch into delicious Sunday dinners – memories that will be cherished forever. Morris was also known for his love of the lottery and spent many nights dreaming about hitting it big. His passions for the great outdoors and good times extended beyond his home and into his active community life. A longtime member of the Powellville Fire Department, he devoted his time to serving others and building lifelong friendships. Morris is survived by his son, Ernest "Tookie" Maurice Jones, Jr. of Delmar; step-son, Thomas Joe Hudson (Brenda); daughter-in-law, Barbara Rennicks Jones; grandson, Steven Edward Jones; sisters, Sherrie Cheezum, Carol Schoonover, and Tina White; and sisters-and brothers-in-law, Ruby Riley (Herman) of Sullivan, Indiana, Vincent Biddle (Margaret) of Delmar, Bonnie Gordy (Steve) of Laurel, and Butch Molnar of Iron Shire, MD. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Patricia A. Jones; brother, Raymond Jones; and sister, Connie West. Morris's life will be honored with a memorial service at a later date. Arrangements are in the care of Short Funeral Home in Delmar.
