Ernest Lee Holder, 78, of Laurel, passed away on Monday, January 22, 2018 at his home in Laurel, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on April 19, 1939 in Washington D.C., a son of the late James Lee Holder and Martha Mae Holder Hester. Ernest proudly served in the US Navy in his early years. He retired from Potomac Electric Power Company in Washington D.C. after 20 years of service. He went on to work for Homeworks in Ocean City, MD for 17 years. He was a member of Liberty Church of Christ in Salisbury. He loved motorcycles, and he and his wife traveled all over the country with several clubs through the years. He also enjoyed being a member of the Delmar Railroad Club. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Sylvia A. Holder; a daughter, Leann Owens (Bill) of Gumboro, DE; two sons, James R. Holder (Robin) of Ridgely, MD, and John R. Holder (Doris) of Edgewater, MD; grandchildren, Nicole Holder, Cody Holder, Cavin Holder, Corey Holder, Heather Salway (Matt), Amanda Owens, and Danielle Owens; a brother-in-law, Brantley Cumbee of SC; and a sister-in-law, Octavia Fort of SC. A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at Liberty Church of Christ, 1313 Old Ocean City Road, Salisbury, MD 21804. The Reverend Phillip Lee will officiate.
