Emma L. Serman, 74, of Salisbury, died Thursday, October 30, 2008 at her home in Salisbury. She was born June 3, 1934 in Salisbury, a daughter of the late Samuel Whitney Day, III and Edna (Insley) Day. She was a proud homemaker, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend to many. Emma was an active member of the Laurel Church of Christ and an avid bible reader. She loved spending time with her family. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Lester Calvin Serman; five children, Lester Calvin Serman, Jr. and his wife Barbara Ann of Virginia Beach, VA, Carol Marie Brown of Sharptown, MD, Samuel Clayton Serman and his wife Christine Louise of Virginia Beach, VA, William Lee Serman and his wife Janice of Virginia Beach, VA and Jennie Lou Grubbs of Sharptown, MD; 13 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; and two brothers, Samuel Whitney Day, IV and his wife Virginia Lee of Salisbury and George Thomas Day and his wife Diane of Parsonsburg. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. A family graveside service was held on Monday, November 3, 2008 at Springhill Memory Gardens near Hebron. Wayne Mathis officiated.
