CRISFIELD- Emma Marie Cooper Stout, 89, of Crisfield, formerly of Mardela Springs, died Thursday, June 23, 2011 at the Alice Byrd Tawes Nursing Home in Crisfield. She was born July 31, 1021 in Mardela Springs, a daughter of the late L. Ernest Victoria Wilson Cooper. Emma graduated from Mardela High School June 5, 1940. Following high school she moved to Washington, D.C. where she worked for a number of years as a receptionist in a dentist office during WWII. She was a past member of Snethen United Methodist Church. She loved the outdoors, especially spending time in her flower garden, raising African violets and spending time at the beach. Bingo was a favorite activity and will be remembered for her love of singing. She is survived by a daughter, Mary Louise Goslee and her husband, Bill of Greenwood; 2 sons, Robert Stout of Seaford and Arthur Stout of Salisbury; 3 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Virginia Lee Desautels and her husband, Rudy of Mardela Springs and Margie Foskey of Delmar; and 3 brothers, Paul Cooper of Hebron, Jackie Cooper and his wife, Patsy of Willards and Marion E. Cooper and his wife, Agnes of Newark, DE. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, David Stout; and three brothers, Staten M. Cooper, Alton W. Cooper and William E. "Bo" Cooper. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 30, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Short Funeral Home in Delmar, where family and friends may call from 1:00 to 2:00. Her son-in-law, Pastor Bill Goslee will officiate. Interment will follow in Mardela Memorial Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to Athol Baptist Church, Mardela Springs, MD.
