Obituary

SNOW HILL- Elizabeth E. "Libby" Shockley, 98, of Snow Hill, died Sunday, August 24, 2014 at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury, surrounded by her loving family. She was born August 13, 1916 in South Hill, Virginia, a daughter of the late George Cary Estes and Nellie Rowley Estes. After graduation from Buckhorn High School in South Hill, she earned her degree in Cosmetology. Libby was a student of Civil War history and was very proud of her Southern heritage. She was also proud of and dedicated to her home and farm life and the years she lived there cooking and sharing life with her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a member of Whatcoat United Methodist Church in Snow Hill where she sang in the Sr. choir. Libby also enjoyed singing in several community musicals throughout the Worcester County area. She will be missed and remembered as a fashionable lady who enjoyed shopping and going out to lunch with family and friends. She is survived by two sons, and their wives, Ralph and Joyce Shockley and David and Sandra Shockley, all of Snow Hill; four grandchildren, Beth Shockley-Lynch and her husband, Jere, Chip Shockley and his wife, Shawna, Becky Shockley-Rose and her husband, Rob and Philip Shockley; six great grandchildren, Kyle Michael, Rachel Claire, Marydith Blaire Lynch and Emma Grace Rose, Logan Robert and Levi Avery Shockley. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband. Percy Franklin Shockley, who passed in 1981 and 3 brothers, George, Gerald and Hollis Estes. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Whatcoat United Methodist Church in Snow Hill. The Reverend Andrew Frick will officiate. Interment will follow at Bates Methodist Church Cemetery in Snow Hill. Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to Whatcoat United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 272, Snow Hill, MD 21863 or Coastal Hospice, P.O. Box 1733, Salisbury, MD 21802. Arrangements are in the care of Short Funeral Home, Delmar.
