Obituary

Elizabeth "Betty" Delano Elliott, 89, of Delmar, passed away Sunday, May 26, 2013 at Seaford Center. She was born on July 17, 1923 in Duxbury, Massachusetts, the daughter of the late Harold K. and Jennie T. Delano. Betty retired from the State of Delaware Treasurer's Office in 1985, after 28 years of service. She was appointed to the Sussex County Department of Elections in 1984 until the present time. She was active in the Delmar V.F.W. Post 8276 Ladies Auxiliary, where she served as president for three terms, a member of the Rehoboth American Legion Unit 5, a member of the Seaford A.A.R.P., where she served as treasurer for many years, a member of the Laurel Senior Center and the Delano Kindred. She is survived by three sons; Jim Elliott (Carol) of Bridgeville, Ronnie Elliott (Dorothy) of Selbyville and Billy Elliott (Pat) of Florence, SC; grandchildren, Jay Elliott, Sherry Parsons, Rhonda Ross (Dominic), Renee Maier (Jeff), Ron Elliott, Jr., Kim Dodge (Bruce), Tim Elliott; and seven great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wallace J. Elliott in 1982. A funeral service will be held Friday, May 31, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Short Funeral Home in Delmar. Family and friends may call one hour prior to the service. Pastor Joe Roszin will officiate. Interment will follow the service in St. Stephens Cemetery in Delmar. In memory of Mrs. Elliott, contributions may be sent to the Delmar V.F.W. Post 8276, 200 West State Street, Delmar, MD 21875. Arrangements are in the care of Short Funeral Home.
