Eleanor J. Rice, 84, of Delmar, and formerly of Dublin, PA, died Saturday, June 13, 2009 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury. She was born September 27, 1924 in Doylestown, PA, a daughter of the late Samuel W. and Florence Clime. She worked at Pine Run Retirement Community for many years as a companion to the elderly. She volunteered her time as a camp cook. She enjoyed painting, crocheting and gardening. She was a volunteer at the voting polls for many years. She was a faithful church member where she taught Sunday School, served as a deaconess and a secretary of the evening Bible Institute. She loved life, family and friends. Her home was always open, often taking in and caring for family and friends for both short and long stays. Eleanor is survived by a son, Ron Rice; a daughter, Kimberly Opay; a daughter-in-law, Sheila Rice; a brother, Larry Clime; a sister, Shirley Fritzinger; ten grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 66 years, Abram R. Rice, who passed February 16, 2009; a son, Barry K. Rice; a brother, Henry Clime; and three sisters, Martha Reed, Isabel Twiford and Caroline Lightcap. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, June 19, 2009 from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. in the chapel at Whitemarsh Memorial Park in Prospectville, PA, followed by a funeral service which begins at 2:00 p.m. Jason Rice, a grandson, will officiate. A memorial service will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 21, 2009 at Faith Baptist Church, 30505 Dagsboro Road in Salisbury, MD. The Reverend Robert Reinert will officiate.
