Obituary

Edward William Tattersall Sr., of Salisbury, Maryland, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 19, 2024, at the age of 82. Born on November 20, 1942, in Baltimore, MD, Ed lived a life filled with service, dedication, and a love for his family and country. Ed proudly served his nation in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, where he was a member of the 82nd Airborne Division. He was a true patriot, earning several medals for his bravery, including the Parachutist Badge, Combat Infantryman's Badge, the Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. His commitment to veterans did not end with his service; he was an active life member of the Delmar V.F.W. Post 8276. As a service officer, Ed made a real difference in the lives of his fellow veterans in both Sussex and Wicomico County for the V.F.W. and the American Legion. In recognition of his tireless efforts, he was honored as the Department of Maryland Outstanding Service Officer for 2017-2018 and was a past committee member for the War Memorial at the Wicomico Civic Center. Ed was a proud father to his children, Edward W. Tattersall, Jr., Susan Hronowski, and Randy Tattersall. He was also a loving grandfather to seven grandchildren, six of whom have continued his legacy of service by serving or having served in the military-five in the Army and one in the Marines. He was also a great grandfather of seven. He is survived by his loving companion, Brandy Wheatley. Ed was preceded in death by his parents, James Frank Tattersall and Hildegarde Gertrude Neuma; and a sister, Debbie Cubbage. A celebration of Ed's life will be held at a later date. Friends, family, and fellow veterans will be invited to gather together to honor Ed's remarkable legacy and the impact he had on everyone around him. The ceremony will include a memorial service, with military honors to be presented in recognition of his service to our country. In memory of Mr. Tattersall, contributions may be sent to the Wicomico War Veterans' Memorial, Attn. Trisha Collins, 500 Glen Avenue, Salisbury, MD 21804.
