Edward J. Michelsen, 68, of Delmar, left this life on Friday, January 19, 2018 and went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Ed was born on March 2, 1949 in Salisbury, Maryland, a son of the late Harry O. and Ada Louise (Rowney) Michelsen. Ed graduated from Mardela High School in 1967 and then served in the U.S. Navy. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Throughout his career, he worked at Barrett Chevrolet as a body shop technician, commercial refrigeration fabricator for M & M Refrigeration in Federalsburg, and an industrial maintenance mechanic at Perdue Farms Agribusiness. His interests included having a vegetable garden, enjoying racing, and ARRL ham radio. Most importantly, he had a passion for sharing his faith. He is survived by his wife, Beverly Sparrow Michelsen; a daughter, Melissa and her husband Robert L. Scarborough, III, and their six children, Stephanie, Michaela, Brianna, Tori, Bradley, and Rachel; a great grandson, Oliver Anthony; a sister, Louise and her husband Len Schrader; brothers, Niall Michelsen and wife Terry and Shawn Michelsen; sister-in-law, Beth Wilson; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Tom Michelsen, Sr.; and a sister, Jocelyn Harman. On Saturday, January 27, 2018 a visitation for family and friends will begin at 12:00 p.m. with a service following at 1:00 p.m. at Short Funeral Home, 13 E. Grove Street in Delmar, Delaware. The Reverend Dean Perdue will officiate. Interment will follow the service in St. Stephens Cemetery Park in Delmar. To all those at Berlin Nursing and Rehabilitation Center who touched my husband's life and aided in his comfort and care, I express my heartfelt appreciation and love.
