Obituary

E. Victor Smullen (born November 14, 1932 to Elijah and Marjorie Smullen) of Snow Hill, went to his home in heaven on April 10, 2022 at age 89, leaving behind his wife Naomi; son David and wife Merri of Milwaukee, Wisconsin with grandchildren Ella and Sydney; daughter Diane and husband Paul of Centreville, Maryland with grandchildren Drew, Gracie, and Becca. Vic retired from Worcester County Roads Department in 1997 after 47 years of service. Vic and Naomi enjoyed taking their children to Sandy Cove for vacations. In recent years, he took on many character identities, ranging from the Easter Bunny—where he traveled to various locations and handed out candy—or the infamous Grinch that stole Christmas, where he pretended to steal his grandchildren's gifts in green face paint and long-fingered gloves. During summers, he spent time with his family on the beaches of North Carolina, always cracking jokes and laughing at his own semantics, such as hiding in an outdoor shower from his family with a large grin. He enjoyed his gardening and yard work, as well as outings with his men's coffee group. He attended Mt. Olive UMC for many years and in recent years was a member of St. Andrews UMC. Vic could often be found with a quick-wit and bright laugh; he will be greatly missed but always remembered. Funeral services will be private. If you wish, memorial contributions can be made to a charity of one's choice. Arrangements are in the care of Short Funeral Home in Delmar.
