Obituary

DENTON—Reverend E. Linwood Horseman, 92, a resident of Homestead Manor in Denton, died Wednesday, July 21, 2010. He was born in Delmar on August 30, 1917, a son of the late William and Louise Wells Horseman. Reverend Horseman studied to become a pastor at the Allentown Bible Institute in Pennsylvania. His first charge lasted two years in Oxford, NY before joining the Chesapeake District of the Wesleyan Church. During his time in the area he pastored churches in Greensboro, MD, Millsboro, DE, Bloxom, VA, New Liberty, MD and Hurlock, MD. Following his retirement in 1972 he made several mission trips to the Bahamas and temporarily pastored various churches. Since becoming a resident of Homestead Manor, Reverend Horseman conducted Sunday services there for the residents until the recent decline of his health. He was a talented musician and a gifted poet and would write poetry for friends and family for many special occasions such as anniversaries and special church events. He is survived by a lifelong friend and caregiver, Reverend Paul D. Dieter of Eldorado; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ethel Robinson Horseman, who passed in 1987; and brothers and sisters, Alda Hall, Dora Layfield, Marie Collins Adkins, Nancy Haddock, Martha Horseman, Larry Horseman and Kendall Horseman, who died as an infant. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 27, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at the Short Funeral Home, 13 E. Grove Street, Delmar, where family and friends may call an hour prior to the service. The Reverend Paul D. Dieter will officiate. Interment will follow in St. Stephen's Cemetery in Delmar. Memorial contributions may be made in Rev. Horseman's memory to The Delmar Wesleyan Church, P.O.
