Dorothy "Dolly" Irene Shifflett, 77, of Delmar, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, April 13, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Dolly was born March 24, 1947 in Brooklyn, Maryland, a daughter of the late Herman Kennerly and Dorothy Kolehofer Kennerly. Throughout her life, Dolly found solace and strength in her faith, and her unwavering belief in God guided her through all trials and triumphs. Her kindness and compassion touched the lives of many, leaving a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing her. Dolly lived a life full of love for her family and faith in God. She was a devoted wife to Charles Shifflett and a beloved member of Grace Seaford Church, where she was involved with several women's groups before her health started to decline. Dolly loved helping others and used her gifts to feed people while working in the cafeteria at Northrup-Grumman Corp. in Baltimore and later at Salisbury University. She was larger than life and seemed to make friends wherever she went. She loved sports and was a lifelong, avid O's fan. She is survived by her beloved husband of almost 37 years, Charles "Chuck" L. Shifflett; daughter, Veronica Raymond of Delmar; son, Richard Scott Shifflett; granddaughter Amanda Raymond (Elon); great granddaughter Andrea Severn; God-daughter, who was like a daughter to her, Brittany Bailey; sister, Shirley Fredericks; brothers, David Gowen and James Gowen; and many nieces, nephews and close friends. She is also survived by her four-legged children, "Kriss" and "Kringle" her miniature schnauzers. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Georgia Lilly; and sons, William "Willie" Lilly and Kenneth Lilly. A celebration of Dolly's life will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at Grace Seaford Church, 805 Atlanta Rd, Seaford, DE 19973.
