Dorothy "Dot" K. Adkins, 72, of Laurel, passed away on Monday, August 23, 2021 at TidalHealth Peninsula Regional in Salisbury. She was surrounded by compassionate nurses, her husband, family and her Lord and Savior whom she now walks with. She was born on January 24, 1949, a daughter of the late Etta Shores Kelly and William James Kelly. Dot most recently worked for EZ Loans in Millsboro. She was a member of the Delmar VFW Post 8276 Ladies Auxiliary and attended Delmar Christian Center. She is survived by her husband, Dean Adkins; daughter, Michelle Kimes; step-daughters, Jennifer Simowitz, Georgia Adkins, and Holly Adkins; brothers, Vernon Kelly and Robert Kelly; seven grandchildren; and four nieces and two nephews. Her new love was her first and only great grandson, Dylan "DJ" Brown, Jr. She so loved her beloved dog "Gizmo," who stayed by her side during her illness. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Becky Wright. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, August 30, 2021 at Short Funeral Home in Delmar. Pastor Douglas McAllister will officiate. A visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Melsons Cemetery in Delmar.
