Obituary

Dorothy Ann (Cade) Beatty, 84, of Delmar passed away on Monday, July 18, 2022, at Anchorage Nursing Home in Salisbury. She was born on November 1, 1937 in Decatur, Illinois, a daughter of the late Clark Orlando Cade and Mary Emma Gaskill Cade. Dorothy attended the University of Utah, graduating with a degree in fine arts, majoring in dance. Following college she worked as a dance teacher in Texas where she met her husband-to-be, Martin. After their marriage they returned to central Illinois to begin a family. Dorothy worked for a number of years as a secretary for the United States Air Force and later for the Veterans Administration. Upon retirement she had more time to devote to her hobbies which included reading, gardening, and genealogy research. Mrs. Beatty was an active member of her church and the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. Dorothy is survived by her daughters Tamara Conkle (Keith) of Salisbury, and Joyce Beatty of Delmar; grandchildren Ryan Conkle and Lauren Conkle Cauffman; and great-grandchildren Amelia and Aurora Cauffman, and Haley Conkle. In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 58 years, Martin Beatty, and an infant great-grandson, James Conkle. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, July 22, 2022 at Short Funeral Home, 13 East Grove Street in Delmar. A visitation for family and friends will be held a half-hour prior to the service. Interment will follow the service in Springhill Memory Gardens in Hebron.
