Donna Lee Sturgis, 81, of Delmar, died Tuesday, April 24, 2018 at her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born October 12, 1936 in Salisbury, a daughter of the late Benjamin White and Susie Joyner White Adkins. Donna worked as a bookkeeper in her younger years but her true pride and joy was raising her family and taking care of their home. She enjoyed spending free time in her garden and taking trips to the beach and had a special fondness for searching the beach for conch shells to add to her collection. She was a long time member of First Baptist Church of Delmar. She is survived by her husband of almost 28 years, Wilson Henry Sturgis; a son and daughter-in-law, John and Becky Dalfonso of Willards; and two grandchildren, who were the apple of her eye, Austin and Megan. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Sunday, April 29, 2018 from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Short Funeral Home in Delmar, where a memorial service will begin at 4:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
