It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Donna Marie Roenigk, age 53, who left this world on Wednesday, September 30, 2026. Born on April 24, 1973, in Valley Lee, Maryland, Donna was a daughter of the late Donald and Nancy Feldman Hayden and daughter in law of the Late Maureen Roenigk of Davidsonville, MD. She will be remembered as a loving wife, daughter, friend, and a dedicated professional who made a significant impact in the lives of many.
Donna grew up in St. Mary's County and proudly graduated from Leonardtown High School with the Class of '91. She went on to earn a degree in Early Childhood Development from St. Mary's College, where she began her career, providing invaluable support to children and families. Her passion for helping others led her to a fulfilling career in social services with St. Mary's County, where she dedicated many years to making a difference. Recognizing a significant need in the community, she founded her own business, Clean Sweep, allowing her to help countless families organize their lives and maintain a clean home. Many of her friends and clients affectionately referred to her as "Angel," a testament to her kindness and unwavering support.Donna will be remembered not only for her professional achievements but also for her lifelong passion for the Washington Redskins. A devoted fan, she supported the burgundy and gold through thick and thin, embodying the spirit of loyalty and perseverance.
She is survived by her devoted husband of almost 23 years, Kevin Patrick Roenigk; brothers, Michael Hayden and David Hayden; sister, Laura Hewitt; several nieces and nephews; her best friend since the 3rd grade, Crystal Sumiel; Father in law Bill Roenigk; brothers-in-law, Mike Roenigk and wife Kat and Devin Roenigk; and a circle of friends whose lives she touched profoundly.
Funeral services will be held to honor Donna's incredible life and legacy on Monday, October 12, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Short Funeral Home in Delmar, where friends and family are invited to gather for a visitation from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Melsons Cemetery in Delmar, MD.
Donna dedicated her life to helping those in need, embodying compassion and generosity. In honor of her legacy, donations can be made in her memory to a charity of your choice, particularly those focused on assisting individuals and families facing hardships.Donna's spirit will live on in the hearts of those who loved her, and she will be deeply missed.
