Obituary

SEAFORD—Donna "Kay" (Robinson) Bennett, 79, of Seaford, passed away Sunday evening, November 6, 2011 at Cadia Renaissance Rehabilitation in Long Neck, following a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. Kay was the wife of the late Lt. Col. John H. Bennett, Jr (1977) and the daughter of the late David G. and Erma (Spicer) Robinson. She attended Seaford High School, class of 1950, and worked many happy and productive years at the Capitol Pharmacy in Seaford. In 1990 she and her father opened and operated Hot Diggity Dog and Kay's Cosmetics at the Laurel Flea Market where they worked until 2003. Mrs. Bennett was crowned Junior Miss Delaware in 1949 and went on to represent Delaware in the Miss America pageant. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her youngest son, Michael Bennett (2009), her sister, Jane (Robinson) Clendaniel and a grandson. She is survived by her children, Catherine Warner (Harry), of Mason, MI, John Bennett (Debbie), of Chantilly, VA and Judith Scott (Jeff), of Seaford, DE. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren, Julie Downes Brown (Andy), Beth Downes Dizel (Brian), John H. Bennett, Kimberly Bennett, Steven Bennett and David Bennett; and 4 great grandchildren. At Mrs. Bennett's long-standing request there will be no funeral. Her immediate family will gather for a private tribute in the near future. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her memory to Vitas-Innovative Hospice Care, 100 Commerce Drive, Suite 302, Newark, DE 19713.
