DELMAR- Delores Ann Outten Jones, age 76, passed away peacefully at the Delaware Hospice Center on Tuesday, February 28, 2017. She was born January 11, 1941 in Hebron, a daughter of the late Elmer Freeney and Madeline Davis Freeney. In her younger years, Delores worked as a receptionist at E. I. DuPont Company in Seaford and later enjoyed working as a Mary Kay consultant. Delores was a long-time member of St. Stephen's United Methodist Church in Delmar, where she was active helping on Saturdays at the soup kitchen. She also was very active with Women Supporting Women, Harvest Ministries and volunteered for many years at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital. She loved shopping trips, bus trips and traveling. Some of her favorite destinations were the Bahamas and Hawaii. She will be remembered for her angel and birdhouse collections and had a special love for hummingbirds. She is survived by daughters, Janet Outten Hanulak of Greenwood and Deanna Outten of Delmar; her long-time friend and companion, Donald Tull of Greenwood; grandchildren, Kasey Joseph, Bobbie Jean Koster, Brandon Outten and Breanna Koster; great grandchildren, Mary Jane, Nicholas, Jessie, Willow and Gunner; sisters, Eleanor Dickerson of Delmar and Shirley Insley of Tyaskin; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her former husband and father of her children, Robert Lee Outten; and a great grandchild, Arizona Koster. Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 6, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Short Funeral Home in Delmar, where family and friends can call from 12:00 to 1:00. The Reverends Phyllis L. Walton and Marjorie A. Egger will officiate. Interment will follow the services at St. Stephen's Cemetery in Delmar.
