Deborah Lee
Lemon
Aug 10, 1955 — Jul 23, 2026
Salisbury
Deborah "Deb" Lee Lemon, age 70, passed away on Thursday, July 23, 2026 at her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Glen Burnie on August 10, 1955, a daughter of the late George Edward Albrecht and Charlotte M. Bailey.
Deb was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother & great grandmother, who always kept her family first and in her heart. She lived for family gatherings, a good card game on the front porch or trips to the thrift stores. Deb loved crafting and crocheting, especially when she used it to help others. She had a huge heart for animals and supported the Humane Society faithfully by donating handmade mats that she crocheted especially for cats. You cannot think of Deb without thinking of her favorite football team, the Dallas Cowboys. She enjoyed being outdoors, working in her flowers which led to a love for sunflowers and hummingbirds.
Always searching for a bargain, Deb could spend hours in the Salvation Army Store and other thrift stores that she loved to shop at with her family. Her family will surely miss her famous sun tea, eclair cake and her passion for pork chops and peaches.
In her younger years Deb worked at the counter at Woolworth's in the old Salisbury Mall and then as an arranger for Jean and Ken's Flower Shop. She spent most of her career in healthcare, working as a CNA and in medical records at the former Peninsula General Hospital and for Eastern Shore ENT & Allergy Associates.
She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Jim Lemon; sons, Darryl Gassaway and wife, Alana and Dan Gassaway and wife, Crystal; grandchildren, Alyssa, Nick, Elizabeth, Chelsey, Sean, Lucas, Isabelle and Sophia; 8 great grandchildren and one on the way; and a brother, George Edward Albrecht, Jr. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Deb will be held on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Short Funeral Home of Delmar, where a visitation for family and friends will be held from 10:00 to 11:00. Pastor David Bennett will officiate. Interment will follow at Melsons Cemetery in Delmar.
Memorial contributions to honor Deb may be made to Humane Society of Wicomico County, 5130 Citation Dr, Salisbury, MD 21804.
