Dean Wilson Long, 80, of Parsonsburg, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, January 2, 2022. He was born July 21, 1941, in Salisbury, MD, a son of the late Wilson Andrew Long and Jane Frances (Littleton) Long. Dean graduated from Wicomico High School with the class of '60 before proudly serving his country in the U.S. Army. He had a 37-year career working in inventory at Dresser Industries until his retirement in 2000. He enjoyed restoring old cars, fishing, and gardening. Dean enjoyed spending time on the water with family and friends, especially with his children and grandchildren. He will be remembered as a faithful, Christian family man, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and friend to many. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Diane (Tyler) Long; a daughter, Kimberly Ann Hudson and husband, John, of Delmar; daughter-in-law, Shelly Denise Long of Laurel; grandchildren, Lauren Speake and husband, Scott, Abbie Johnson and husband, Michael and Matthew Long and wife, Paige; and great-grandchildren, Coty, Trace, Hayden, Kade and Rilee; brother, Don. R. Long; and sisters, Andrea Collins and husband, David; and Pamela Renshaw and husband, Glen. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, James Dean Long, who passed away in 2017; and a brother, Wayne Long. A funeral service will be held on Monday, January 10, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Delmarva Evangelistic Church on Gordy Road in Salisbury, where family and friends may visit from 10:30 a.m. to 11:00. Interment will follow at St. Peter's UMC Cemetery in Oriole.
