Obituary

David Daniel Yoder, 86, of Delmar, Maryland, formerly of Snow Hill, Maryland, died July 29, 2007, at his home surrounded by family. He was born on October 7, 1920, to J. Bennett and Lena Huffman Yoder at Westover, MD. He was a chicken farmer, retiring in 2002. David accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior in his youth and continued faithfully in the Mennonite Church. At his death, he was a member of the Salisbury Mennonite Church in Delmar, Delaware. On October 23, 1943, David married Edith Longacre in Spring City, Pennsylvania. They enjoyed over 63 years of marriage. She survives. Other survivors include one son and seven daughters: Anita Knepp and spouse, Willis, Lake Butler, Florida; Marlin Yoder and spouse Esther, Partridge, Kansas; Karen Good, Delmar, Delaware; Janet Brunk and spouse Wendall, Resaca, Georgia; Betty Gascho and spouse Ronald, Chimaltenango, Guatemala, C.A.; Martha Rhodes and spouse Kenneth, Fairchild, Wisconsin; Judith Kurtz and spouse Edwin, Ephrata, Pennsylvania; and Rachel Alexander, Delmar, Delaware. He is also survived by 41 grandchildren and 42 great grandchildren. He is survived by 3 brothers and 3 sisters: Charles, Florida; Eli, Sanford, Virginia; and Crist, Westover, Maryland; Rebecca Weaver, Freda Good, and Grace Hann, all of Pennsylvania. David was preceded in death by 3 brothers Paul, George, and Roy; one sister Esther Martin, and one granddaughter Joanna Gascho. Friends may call on Thursday, August 2, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Salisbury Mennonite Church on Pepperbox Road in Delmar, Delaware. Funeral Services are scheduled for Friday, Aug. 3 at 10:00 a.m. at Faith Baptist Church, 30505 Dagsboro Road in Salisbury, where friends may call one hour prior to the service. William Bear and Alvin Mast will officiate. Interment will follow at the Salisbury Mennonite Cemetery on Dagsboro Road in Delmar, Maryland. Arrangements are in the care of Short Funeral Home in Delmar.
