Obituary

Mardela Springs, MD - David Clyde Twilley, 73, of Double Mills, MD, passed away on Wednesday, February 26, 2025 at his home. Born March 19, 1951 in Salisbury, MD, he was the son of the late Norris B Twilley and Mary Emily Adkins Twilley of Double Mills. David graduated from Mardela High School and attended Virginia Tech, UMES, and then Anne Arundel Community College. David was involved in EMS for over 40 years as both a volunteer and career paramedic. He worked primarily as a paid paramedic in Pocomoke City in Worcester County. He volunteered with Mardela, Hebron, and Delmar in both Fire and EMS. In addition, he was involved in farming his entire life, spending nearly 30 years part-time with Vincent Farms in Laurel, DE. Through the years, David served on countless EMS committees and boards at the local, county, regional, and state levels. He was also an avid surf-fisherman and spent many hours on the beaches of Assateague and the Outer Banks. David is survived by his children, Jason H Twilley(Jonna) of Hebron, Joshua H Twilley(Alison) of Newark, and Joe Derbyshire(Aspyn) of Hebron. David is also survived by his 8 grandchildren, all of whom he dearly loved, Cade Nutter & Kaia Twilley of Hebron, Brooklyn Torrey, Presley & Tucker Twilley of Newark, and Addison, Dylan, & Colton Derbyshire of Hebron. He is also survived by his brother, Steve Twilley(Robin) of Milford and nephews Brandon & Tyler Twilley. The family will hold a celebration of life on Saturday, March 29, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at Hebron Volunteer Fire Department, 200 South Main St, Hebron, MD 21830, followed by a time of food and fellowship. Donations in David's memory may be made to Mardela Springs Volunteer Fire Company, c/o Ambulance Fund, P.O. Box 299, Mardela Springs, MD 21837 or the Mardela Warrior Booster Club.
