David Cox, 79, of, Salisbury, passed away on Sunday, May 18, 2014 at the Delaware Home for the Chronically Ill in Smyrna, Delaware. He was born to Amos and Violet Cox on December 18, 1934, the last of 11 children. Only nine of them proceeded to adulthood. Dave was a simple country boy, who loved his family, dogs, and trucks of any kind, especially 18-wheelers. He drove a truck his entire life, culminating in having a small line of trucks that bore his name. Dave felt it was important to always look nice, and be dressed and looking handsome. He was a very simple and quiet man. He is survived by a son, David Cox, Jr.; a brother, Robert Cox; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by Richard Cox, Kenneth Cox, Frank Cox, Ellen Darby, Alice Humphreys, Hazel Ray and Pauline McMichael. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 1:30 p.m.to 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 22, 2014 at the Short Funeral Home, 13 E. Grove Street in Delmar.
