DELMAR- Darlene Elizabeth Kinley, 56, of Delmar, died Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at her home. She was born in the Bronx, New York, a daughter of James Rudolph Kinley of Anderson, South Carolina and the late Helen Najarian Kinley. Darlene graduated from Mahopac High School in New York. She loved the city and had many wonderful memories of growing up there and visited as much as possible once she moved away. She also came to love living on Delmarva where she loved the outdoors, working in the yard and hunting and fishing. She was able to pursue her passion for restoring classic cars when she opened Kinley's Auto in Delmar, a business she owned and operated for several years. She was a talented mechanic and body repair technician and could fix anything. Her annual trips to the MOPAR Car Show in Pennsylvania were something she looked forward to. She also worked with her husband Pete doing handy work. Darlene always put others first with a smile on her face no matter what and didn't want others to see her pain or struggles. She will be sorely missed by her family who meant the world to her and she treasured times spent with family, taking care of them, having family get togethers and game nights. She also had a big heart for animals and loved every one of the pets they had through the years. She is survived by her husband of over 17 years, Maurice "Pete" L. Donoway; her beloved children, Melissa DiPalma and Duston Kinley, both of Delmar; granddaughters, Victoria and Paige; sisters, Debbie McEckron and LeAnne Kinley; brothers, Darren Kinley, Lance Kinley and Jimmy Kinley; a special brother-in-law, Frank Baker; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Short Funeral Home in Delmar, where a visitation will be held from 1:00 to 2:00. Pastor Harry Weir will officiate. Arrangements are in the care of Short Funeral Home in Delmar. Online condolences may be sent to the family by visiting www.shortfh.com.
